Olivia's March Update!

Hello Again!

It's hard to believe it's already the middle of March. I've got some big stuff going on this month and look forward to sharing about it.

But first, I wanted to make sure that you subscribe to my newsletters (such as this one) so you can know what's going on in my world! Please use the link here to input your email address if you want to be on my mailing list.

Now, onto the exciting stuff...

Last month I competed at B1G Tens in Madison, Wisc. with my Michigan teammates. It was 4 days of intense but rewarding racing. Although our goal was to win the B1G Ten title, we fell short. As much as I would have liked to see the team win, it was inspiring to watch those who stepped up and who conquered their personal goals.

In my swims, some of the highlights were: going 1-2 in the 100yd Butterfly with my teammate, Maggie MacNeil for the 3rd straight year, defending my B1G Ten title for a third year in the 200yd Butterfly and rebreaking my meet record in that event, and finally, to cap off the week, getting gold in the 4x100 Freestyle relay.

Here's a few pictures from the meet:

There hasn't been much time for a breather, because NCAAs starts THIS WEDNESDAY! Competition will run from March 16 - March 19 at Georgia Tech. (Yay for warmer weather!) Some of my events have been decided at this point, so I will be swimming:

Wednesday night, 16th- 4x200 Freestyle Relay & (maybe) 4x50 Medley Relay
Thursday 17th- (maybe) 200 Individual Medley & (maybe) 4x50 Freestyle Relay
Friday 18th- 100 Butterfly & 4x100 Medley Relay
Saturday 19th- 200 Butterfly & 4x100 Freestyle Relay

The meet begins at 6pm ET on Wednesday. Prelims on Thus, Fri, Sat will begin at 10am ET, and finals will begin at 6pm ET. All relays will be swum in the finals session of their respective day.

How you can watch: According to the NCAA website, you should be able to watch live coverage of the meet Wednesday-Saturday (prelims AND finals) on ESPN3. Swimswam.com will also have live results coverage (no video) so you can check things out there too.

I am getting really excited about competing at NCAAs again this year! Now that I already have an NCAA title, there is a little more pressure this time! But I know that I will race hard and give it my all no matter the outcome. Michigan has put together a fantastic NCAA team and the girls that I am going with are very special to me. Looking forward to having fun and swimming fast!

Lastly, here is a link to a SwimmingWorld article that was recently done on me and my teammate Maggie MacNeil. Check it out!

Speedy Shenanigans:

As many of you know, I drive a rather eye-catching orange Subaru WRX that is nicknamed Turbo Pumpkin... This car is very near and dear to me and that is reflected in the amount of time I spend with it/working on it/buying stuff for it. I've got some cool modifications on their way and I hope to share some more about them when they arrive. Until then here's a picture:

Recipe Roulette:

I cook. A LOT. And it's really not my favorite thing to do, but I like having control over what I am eating and how it's made. Sometimes, I come across or make up a recipe that's really awesome. I want to share those with you just in case you need some inspiration to spruce up your own cooking life.

This recipe is for a Chocolate Cherry Smoothie! Cherries and chocolate are two of my favorite foods and they make such the perfect combo.

1 cup Michigan (or other) Cherries (frozen)
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup Almond milk
1 TBS PB Fit (optional)
1.5 TBS cocoa powder
2 Dates

Mix all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

I hope you enjoy this smoothie as much as I do!

Thanks again for reading, and have a marvelous March!
